Environmental Sustainability Baseline Audit: REC is an active part of discussing sustainability recommendations made by the ESBA. REC is working with the Environmental Modeling Committee and students to integrate sustainable policies and practices at Connecticut College.

Composting: REC helps to maintain and run a composting project, reducing post-consumer food waste and making the College greener.

Lightbulb Exchange: REC started "The Light Bulb Exchange," a program that exchanges incandescent bulbs for Energy Star compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, which use 75 percent less energy. The club recently sold $7 CFL light bulbs to students for the reduced price of $1. Students were asked to bring incandescent bulbs to exchange.The light bulb exchange was designed to extend a move-in day initiative to provide each incoming freshman a CFL light bulb to promote energy efficiency and conservation and also promotes the club's "Concert from Conservation," a student directed campaign that aims to reduce electricity consumption in residence halls with a percentage of the savings funding a spring concert. The club recently sold $7 CFL light bulbs to students for the reduced price of $1. Students were asked to bring incandescent bulbs to exchange.

Environmental Awareness Lecture Series 2010: A series of four lectures given by area professors and environmentalists is being hosted and organized by REC. Discussion topics range from local sustainable food to green waste management. See the online calendar of events for details.

Rooftop Rally for Renewable Energy: REC is organizing an eco-music festival to take place on top of the Propark parking garage in downtown New London on April 23, 2010. This concert will benefit Propark's initiative to install a solar panel canopy on its roof, standing as a symbol and commitment to helping to alleviate climate change.

Earth Week 2010: REC works with other environmental groups on campus to help coordinate and plan this fun filled eco-friendly week that includes film screenings, a dance, and other events.
